Women have been considered as an underprivileged sector of the human society throughout the history. It has been a male dominated world out there for women in every aspect excepting the household chores. But, in the recent past, women have gained more power and privilege than ever before. But then, many believe that the women’s involvement in various fields like the engineering, medicine, sciences, business and law is not up to the maximum and women need more opportunity in the above fields so that they can be equal to their men counterparts. The above fields have been very much dominated by men for quite sometime and this is the reason many institutions, groups and private sectors are making efforts to provide equal opportunities to women to enter into the men dominated fields. This has the paved way towards scholarships for women and their efforts are paying off in a great manner.

Scholarships for women are provided so that they can study without any financial constraints and of course free of cost. Scholarships for women are not only for those who would like to pursue their college education but also for the graduates or women degree holders who would like to study further.

Even though there are many scholarship programs meant for both men and women, there are some programs exclusively dedicated for women students. America’s junior miss scholarship is one of the unique kinds of scholarships which are given in the form of prizes to the female students. The eligibility criteria for availing this scholarship is that the applicant should be a female who has not married in her lifetime and that she should be a citizen of the United States of America. Nearly 200 universities and colleges provide this scholarship with prize money ranging from 1000 USD to 40,000 USD to the women winners.

The next one is the Association for women in science graduate awards provided to the women who have enrolled themselves into either behavioral engineering or social science or physical science fields of a Ph.D program. The eligibility criterion for application for this scholarship for women is that she should be a female who has done her degree in any of the colleges or Universities in the United States. The scholarship amount which could be got can range any where from 300 USD to 1000 USD.

Business and professional women scholarships are provided to women who would like to study for either an undergraduate program or a graduate degree provided she submits relevant details seeking financial assistance for doing so. The eligibility criteria for receiving this scholarship is that the women should be more than 25 years of age. Nearly 200 such scholarships are provided for women under this category.

Pennsylvania outstanding young woman scholarships are provided exclusively for female students residing in Pennsylvania. Apart from this qualification, they should not have married and should be U.S citizens to avail this scholarship for women. Society of women engineer’s scholarships are awarded to female students who would like to study computer science in their engineering degree.
